Barraquer has signed a new teaching collaboration agreement with the Hospital de Sant Pau in Barcelona. Through this agreement, the three second-year residents of the Hospital de Sant Pau will have the opportunity to carry out external rotations each academic year to train in Barraquer in the area of Refractive Surgery.

Comprehensive training in Refractive Surgery

These rotations will be carried out at the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center, recognized for its excellence in refractive surgery and equipped with the most advanced surgical techniques. For approximately four weeks, visiting residents will participate in a variety of activities designed to enrich their training, such as:

  • Visualization of refractive surgery: they will closely observe advanced surgical procedures and learn from our experienced surgeons.
  • Visualization of other surgeries of the anterior segment: in addition to refractive surgery, residents will have the opportunity to witness a variety of surgical procedures of the anterior segment, thus expanding their understanding and skills in various ophthalmological techniques.
  • Accompaniment to assistant doctors: residents will accompany assistant doctors from the anterior segment area and refractive surgery in their daily consultations, obtaining a practical and detailed vision of clinical management in refractive surgery.
  • Accompaniment to expert technicians: they will work together with expert technicians in our complementary exploration department, acquiring essential knowledge in diagnostics and preoperative procedures.
  • Access to the Josefa Moner Library: they will have access to our extensive medical catalogue and a dedicated space for the preparation of works and studies.
  • Assistance to clinical and training sessions: they will participate in the clinical and training sessions that are taught at the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center during their stay.

Supervision and continuous evaluation

Each resident will be supervised and evaluated by an assigned tutor from Barraquer, ensuring high quality and personalized training. In addition, they will have the continuous assistance of the Technical Secretariat team, which will facilitate their integration and development during the stay.

Strengthening collaboration and specialized training

Barraquer maintains its position as a leader in ophthalmological training, and this new agreement with the Hospital de Sant Pau strengthens its commitment to high-quality medical education and innovation.

In addition, this agreement reinforces the spirit of collaboration of the teaching area of Barraquer with other accredited teaching units for specialized health training in ophthalmology, both nationally and internationally. Our commitment is to offer excellent training and contribute to the development of future specialists in ophthalmology.
