Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers have become one of the most sought-after aesthetic treatments due to their proven rejuvenating properties. Find out how this treatment works below.
1. Before the treatment
The treatment does not require any prior preparation from the patient, who can continue their normal routine until the appointment. Once at the consultation, after assessing the patient and discussing their wishes, the doctor will recommend the most suitable technique for each case.
2. Treatment
The process lasts approximately 30 minutes and performed on an outpatient basis. After applying a little anaesthesia, which is not always necessary, the doctor will inject the gel just below the surface of the skin using a very fine needle or cannula to ensure the patient’s comfort. The doctor then gently massages the area to help distribute and integrate the product into the into the chosen area of the face. Finally, Finally, a regenerating cream and sun protection are applied.
HA treatment is compatible with, and can be combined with, other treatments such as botulinum toxin, facial mesotherapy, microneedling, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or revitalising peels.
3. After treatment
In the first 24-48 hours after treatment, it is common to experience slight inflammation in the treated area, which will gradually subside. The results of the treatment will become noticeable quikcly, as it gently fills in wrinkles, maintains excellent hydration levels, and improves skin elasticity and firmness. This restores tone to the facial features and sunken areas, while also rejuvenating the skin and improving its texture in a lasting way.
In the following days, it is advisable to take precautions, such as avoiding high-intensity sports or facial massages. Otherwise, the patient can resume their usual activities as normal.
