How do we perform neuromodulator injections?

25/04/2025

Injectable treatment with neuromodulators, known as Botox, is a simple, effective, and outpatient procedure for the treatment of wrinkles.

Before the treatment

Apart from attending the appointment without makeup and with a clean face, no special care is required beforehand. What is truly important is that the patient chooses a reputable centre to undergo the injection and, once there, communicates their concerns and wishes to the doctor so that these can be met as closely as possible.

Treatment

The procedure lasts approximately 30 minutes. After applying an anaesthetic cream or local cold, the doctor proceeds with the infiltration of the neuromodulators, using an extremely fine needle to ensure maximum comfort for the patient. Finally, a regenerating cream and sun protection are applied.

The treatment is compatible with and can be combined with others such as hyaluronic acid, facial mesotherapy, microneedling, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and revitalising peels.

Duration: 30 minutes

Results visible in: 3–4 days

Effects last: 4–6 months

Anaesthesia: topical

After the treatment

It is common for slight swelling in the form of small bumps to appear in the treated area during the first 6 hours, which will gradually subside. During this period, it is advisable to take some precautions and avoid exercising, sun exposure, facial massages, or exposure to extreme temperatures — for example, saunas or, conversely, very cold environments. Otherwise, the patient may continue with their usual activities completely normally. If necessary, a follow-up appointment can be scheduled after two weeks to optimise the treatment results.
