The Barraquer Foundation will provide ophthalmic and optometric assistance to the Palestinian Community of Catalonia by virtue of the cooperation agreement signed by both entities on February 5, under the ‘Mirem per tu’ project.
The Palestinian Community of Catalonia is the secular, democratic, plural and participative association of Palestinianresidents of Catalonia. For more than ten years, through different activities and initiatives, they have been dedicated to sensitizing society to the serious problems that exist in their country and to denouncing the situation of defenselessness in which Palestinian citizens find themselves.
Dr. Ibrahim Beisani, president of the entity from 2012 to 2017, has always been concerned with personally helping his compatriots with visual health problems. For this reason, in recent years it has referred to the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center some cases of Palestinian patients with limited resources, who have been treated in the clinic through the Barraquer Foundation aid program. Now recently retired after a long career as a family doctor, Dr. Beisani continues to work as a volunteer and representative of the Palestinian Community of Catalonia, a group that the Barraquer Foundation will continue to support.
Dr. Ibrahim Beisani and Professor Rafael I. Barraquer, President of the Barraquer Foundation, formalized the agreement at the facilities of the Barraquer Ophthalmology Center.
